AnsaldoBreda produces high quality state-of-the-art Heavy Rail Vehicles (HRV’s) for the global metro, subway and rapid transit markets.  HRV’s are electric passenger trains powered by a third rail with increased capacity for heavy volumes of people and traffic typically characterized by higher speeds (70+ mph) and rapid acceleration.  Trains operate in multi-car configurations on fixed, grade-separated rights-of-way set off from other vehicular and pedestrian traffic in both urban and regional applications.  Passengers board from high platforms with headways (train intervals) typically ranging from 1-to-5 minutes during peak and non-peak periods respectively.  In addition to its US cities, AnsaldoBreda has produced HRV’s for Madrid, Rome, Milan and Naples.
